  Amersham 2nd XI v OMT 2nd XI
Match abandonded (rain)

An absorbing contest between Amersham II and OMT II at Shardeloes ended in disappointment for both teams, when a downpour ended the match with 18 overs to go.

OMT elected to bat first on a damp track, but they were restricted to 162-7 from their 51 overs. All the bowlers, including debutante Jamie Toates, bowled well, in support of a fine 18 over spell from Duncan Ward (2-45).

In reply Amersham were soon in trouble at 25-4, but a brave counter-attack from Evan Hamilton-Pike (46), plus support from Ward (20) and Renny Adams (24) had given Amersham an outside chance of victory at 126-6 when the rain came.

Amersham 2nd XI v Farnham Royal 2nd XI
Amersham won by 8 wickets

A full-strength Amersham II boosted their promotion hopes as they stormed to their third straight win against Farnham Royal II at Shardeloes. After inserting the opposition, fine opening spells from Sam Davis (4-41) and Alex Hands (1-28) restricted Farnham Royal to 51-4. A brave fifth wicket partnership was finally broken at 69 by Adam Gibson, who went on to claim 5-36 culminating in a spectacular caught and bowled to dismiss the visitors for 167.

In reply, Amersham made short work of the target, with in-form Gibson (57) and Will Walsh (64*) sharing a second wicket stand of 120. Nick Robinson (26 not out) applied the finishing touches and the target was emphatically reached with nearly 8 overs to spare.

NPL Lensbury 2nd XI v Amersham 2nd XI
Amersham won by 2 wickets

Amersham claimed a nail-biting victory at NPL Lensbury, to maintain their outside chances of a promotion place. Lensbury opted to bat first on a hard track, but fine spells from Adam Gibson (4-50) and Charlie Holloway (4-18) restricted the hosts to 147. Curiously, only the first (32) and last (33) wicket partnerships produced any significant runs.

In reply, Adam Gibson, scoring his third consecutive fifty, held the innings together. He was eventually dismissed for a fantastic 80, leaving Jon Lishman to see Amersham home in the gathering dark with just two wickets remaining.

  Amersham 2nd XI v Fleet 2nd XI
Amersham won by 5 wickets

Amersham secured a comfortable victory over Fleet on a glorious day at Shardeloes. After being asked to bowl first by Fleet, Amersham skipper Renny Adams set the tone with a breathtaking one handed catch to make the first breakthrough. Then Charlie Holloway (5-41) and Matt Ash (3-25) tore through the rest of the team.

Despite losing 5 wickets all to the spin of Dugay, Amersham always looked like reaching their target, and thanks to the strokeplay of youngsters Rob Viney(37) and Nick Robinson (20), it was reached with 49 overs to spare.

  Finchampstead 3rd XI v Amersham 2nd XI
Finchampstead won by 5 wickets

Amersham suffered their third defeat of the season away to Finchampstead III, after being inserted on a typically flat pitch. Adam Gibson continued his rich run of form with 66, Will Walsh chipped in with 49, and Chris Owen blasted 61 not out, as Amersham made 224-5 declaring at the halfway 50 over mark.

Things were going to plan for Amersham as hostile opening spells from Sam Davis and Jon Lishman reduced the hosts to 44-3, but Phillips and Taberer counter-attacked with a 4th wicket partnership of 127 for the hosts, and they comfortably reached the target with 5 wickets and 7 overs to spare. Having lost to the bottom club Amersham face the top club, Maidenhead II, next week.

Amersham 2nd XI v High Wycombe 3rd XI
Amersham won by 152 runs

Amersham returned to form with a convincing win over High Wycombe III at Shardeloes. Amersham were inserted after losing the toss, but with Adam Gibson making a stylish 98, and Asa Bridle chipping in with a flamboyant 52 not out, Amersham II posted their highest total since 1999.

In reply, High Wycombe had no answer to the pace of Sam Davis, who in just 10 overs produced figures of 7-37, six of which were clean bowled.

Teddington Town 1st XI v Amersham 2nd XI
Teddington Town won by 76 runs

Amersham won the toss, and inspired by England's World Cup victory over Denmark, made a fantastic start, reducing the hosts to 69-6. Duncan Ward's excellent opening spell included the prize wicket of Murphy with his first ball. But a vital chance was missed and Teddington Town capitalised by adding 92 for the 7th wicket. When Ward was brought back he eventually removed Treloar for 75, and finished the innings with a hat-trick and figures of 7-52.

A mixture of poor shots from Amersham and questionable sportsmanship from Teddington Town saw the visitors collapse from 56-2 to 122 all out, and only Chris Cowley (23 not out) offered any resistance.

  OMT 2nd XI v Amersham 2nd XI
Match drawn

After losing the toss again, Amersham were put into bat at Durrants on a near-saturated pitch due to heavy overnight rain. Battling against the conditions, Amersham had made just 25-2 off the first 20 overs, but splendid knocks from Ben Ramsden (44) and Keith Rutherford (42) saw the visitors accumulate a useful 170.

OMT started their innings on the back foot as paceman Sam Davis tore through the top order, taking the first 4 wickets. For a while O'Reilly threatened to pull off an unlikely victory, but he departed for 73 when Davis was brought back, then Charlie Holloway's 3-13 nearly won the game for Amersham, but a sharp chance was grassed in the gulley in the final over, as OMT held out for a draw.

  Amersham 2nd XI v Windsor 2nd XI
Match drawn

Amersham, despite being well under-strength, had the best of a draw against Windsor II at Shardeloes. Amersham batted first, and Rob Viney looked set for another big score before being given out handling the ball! Tim Aylott settled into the anchor role scoring 65, and Jamie Hudson cracked 46 not out as Amersham posted a challenging 191-6.

Mike Garvey and Charlie Holloway both had fine opening spells to break through the top order, and subsequently Windsor never looked likely to reach their target. Amersham attacked with leg spinner Harry Heslop picking up 3 wickets, and although Garvey came back at the death to claim the wicket of Wing for 69, Windsor held out for a draw.

Amersham 2nd XI v NPL Lensbury 2nd XI
Amersham won by 3 wickets

Amersham earned a hard-fought victory against NPL Lensbury at Shardeloes to maintain their winning start to the league season. Good opening spells from Sam Davis and Duncan Ward restricted the visitors to 56-2 at the halfway stage, and only Woolatt, who struck 45 not out, batted with any authority. The highlight of the innings was Ward's fabulous one-handed catch on the boundary to dismiss Churchman.

Amersham's innings got off to a poor start as Klimke took 3 early wickets, but at 19-3 Rob Viney and Ian Rogers were brought together and they added 97 for the 4th wicket. Rogers, despite injuring his calf, made a brave 39, and Viney was eventually dismissed for 87, but not before he'd almost single-handedly guided Amersham to the brink of victory, in an innings of maturity well beyond his 16 years.

  Fleet 2nd XI v Amersham 2nd XI
Amersham won by 8 wickets

The second XI got off to a winning start in division 4B with a comfortable victory at Fleet.

Having been put into bat, Fleet started positively, scoring 44 runs from the first eleven overs, before Amersham finally managed to break the opening partnership via Adam Gibson's deadly throw from backward square-leg. Gibson went on to pick up four wickets from his own bowling, and there were two wickets apiece for Charles Holloway and Sam Davies on his league debut, as Fleet failed to use up their alloted overs in scoring 174. The top-scorer of the innings was extras, with a whopping 46.

Simon Blayney and William Walsh set the tone for the Amersham innings with a stylish opening partnership of 76 in 20 overs before Walsh was caught in the deep for 20. Gibson then continued Walsh's good work, allowing Blayney (56) to continue playing the aggressor role. Blayney dismissal via a top-edge to the 'keeper brought Ian Rogers to the crease - but there was no associated lessening of the tempo as Rogers (56*) immediately dispatched the first three deliveries he faced to the boundary. Victory came at a canter, with 13.3 overs to spare.
