Amersham completed their league campaign as Champions of Division 2B with a 5 wicket defeat to Stoke Green.
Amersham batted first and Andy Robertson and Rob Viney got the innings off to a steady start against some tight bowling. Robertson was the first out with the score on 28. Chris Owen and Rob Viney then batted carefully and pushed the score on to 92 before Owen (29) fell to Patdiwala and Dan Colqhuhoun and Luke Jackson also followed in the same over. Amersham were struggling at 92 - 4. Rob Viney anchored the inning very well for 75 and was given some good support by Ollie Haddock (19) before he was out with the score on 132.
Once Viney went Duncan Ward and Tom Dixon pushed the score along to set Stoke Green 177 to win. Amersham had already secured the league title when they reached 100.
Stoke Green went about the target in a very positive manner and lost 5 wickets on the way to a comfortable win. Mustapha Rajabali took the first 2 wickets but the Stoke Green middle order had some fun smashing the ball to all parts. The other wickets were taken by Chris Owen, Luke Jackson and Duncan Ward.
Amersham can look forward to a return to Division 1 next season. |

Amersham secured a return to Division 1 with a draw against Tring Park. Amersham are now 25 points clear of second place Fleet but cannot be overhauled as they have won more games during the season.
Tring Park won the toss and asked Amersham to bat first. Rob Viney and Andy Robertson opened and got Amersham off to a steady start putting on 36 for the first wicket before Viney was out in the 11th over. Robertson and Chris Owen continued Amersham steady progress adding 42 before Robertson was out in the 22 over for 35.
Chris Owen then anchored the innings scoring 57 as the others chipped in with everyone making a contribution. Tring Park came back well and restricted Amersham to 195 all out to fall just shy of maximum batting points.
Tring also got off to a steady start as Amersham opened the bowling with spin from Dave Atkinson and Nick Moore. Tring had reached 25 without loss from 12 overs when Amersham took the new ball. It had an immediate effect as Tom Dixon took a wicket in his first over and Duncan Ward took another wicket 5 overs later. Tring were 61 - 2 from 19 over. Tom Dixon followed this up taking his second wicket and Tring were 70 - 3 from 24 overs. The game was finely balanced as Tring needed 126 from 24 overs to win and Amersham required 7 wickets.
Harper and Bushe batted sensibly and slowly chipped away at the target and had reached 118 before Nick Moore removed Harper. With 10 overs left Tring now required 78 and had wickets in hand. Plumridge and Bushe looked to attack the Amersham bowling and had reached 150 with 6 overs left. Dave Atkinson then changed the game as he took 3 wickets in an over and Amersham were now looking at victory. Nick Moore then applied more pressure as he took 2 wickets in the 46th over and Amersham were now one wicket away from victory. Despite Amersham's best efforts the Tring Park batsmen saw out the last two over for a draw. |

| | Amersham I v Reading II |
| | Morrant Thames Valley Cricket League − Division 2b |
| | Reading II 164 (45.4 ovs; David Atkinson 6−22) |
| | Amersham I 167-7 (38.2 ovs; Rob Viney 30, Dave Hartley 7−73) |
| | Amersham I won by 3 wickets |
| |
| |
Amersham secured another win by using their get out of jail free card.
Amersham won the toss and elected to bowl first. They got off to a great
start with Duncan Ward taking a wicket with the 4th ball of the game.
Reading then responded with M Ali and C Peters adding 30 before Ward struck
again to remove Peters for 30.
Ali was then joined by the hard hitting M Huggins who was determined to to
smash the ball as hard and as far as he could. A change of bowling saw Dave
Atkinson take a wicket in his first over. Reading were now 76 for 3 off 19
overs. Atkinson struck again in his next over and again in his 3rd over as
Reading collapsed to 92 for 5. Nick Moore then made it 93 - 6 but the
danger man Huggins was still at the crease. He was joined by Hartley and
they added 24 before Hartley became Atkinson's 4th wicket and Nick Moore
bowled Huggins in the next over to make it 119 - 8. Reading's tail enders
were not going to be removed without a struggle and the last two wickets
added 45 runs. Dave Atkinson was the pick of the Amersham bowlers and ended
up taking 5 - 22.
Amersham were set a target of 165 to win but knew it was going to be
difficult with Dave Hartley bowling his leg breaks. Amersham were soon 4 -
1 as Hartley bowled Rich Stephenson (the first of his seven wickets) Hartley
and Nassim were keeping Amersham on the back foot with a display of accurate
spin bowling. Amersham were reduced to 22 - 2 when Chris Owen was LBW and
Rob Viney was joined by Andy Robertson. Viney (30) was the third wicket to
fall when he tried to hit Hartley over the top once too often. Ollie
Haddock and Paul Weston soon followed as Amersham were 74 - 5.
Robertson was joined by Duncan Ward and both players were determined to to
play cautiously to make sure Amersham didn't collapse further. With the
score on 89 Hartley struck again by bowling Robertson. Atkinson joined Ward
and the pair put on 9 before Atkinson became Hartley's 6th victim. Amersham
were struggling at 98 - 7 when Brad Holt joined Ward in the hope that
Amersham could get close to the target and pick up valuable points in their
push for promotion.
Reading decided to take Nassim off and take the new ball as they sensed
victory. Hartley was still going strong from one end but the seamers
couldn't quite find the right areas and Ward and Holt started to pick off
the 57 runs needed for victory. Ward took ten off one over and was being
well supported by Holt. Holt then found himself facing the Reading opening
bowler who decided the best way to win was to bounce the Amersham players
out. Holt hooked one from Ali for 4 and the confidence grew. Amersham had
now got to 124 - 7 with 19 overs left. If these two could stay in their was
the possibility that Amersham could win. Holt then found himself facing
Hartley and struck him for 3 fours as they took 15 off the over. Amersham
were 139 - 7 and getting closer. Holt again found himself on strike the
next over after Ward had hit one for 3. Ali was still trying to bounce Holt
and Holt kept chopping him over the slips to a vacant third man for four
4's. Amersham were within striking distance at 159 - 7. Ward promptly
finished off the job in the next over as he hit Hartley for two 4's to win
the game. |

| | Morrant Thames Valley Cricket League − Division 2b |
| | Hillingdon I 150 (39.4 ovs; David Atkinson 6−24) |
| | Amersham I 152-4 (24.3 ovs; Rich Stephenson 65) |
| | Amersham I won by 6 wickets |
| |
| |
Amersham increased their lead at the top of Division 2B with a win over basement side Hillingdon. It helped that Amersham were the only side to get a result as all other matches were affected by rain.
Hillingdon won the toss and elected to bat first. After being hit for 4 off the first ball, Duncan Ward removed the opener with the 3rd ball by getting one to nip back and take middle.
Ward struck again in the third over by bowling the other opener and Hillingdon were 6 - 2 after three overs. Ward was ably supported by Brad Holt who was rewarded for his efforts in his 6th over as Huntley nicked one to Robertson behind the stumps. Hillingdon were 20 - 3 as Amersham were keen to beat the rain and chalk up a win. Hillingdon then put up some resistance with Seymour and Akram slowly making progress. Atkinson then struck his first of 6 wickets by bowling Akram. Amersham continued to apply pressure with accurate bowling from Atkinson and Rajabali. Atkinson struck again as he took a low return catch of his bowling. Then B Akram and Z Akram decided the best policy was to hit out and managed to flay the occasional ball to the boundary in a desperate attempt to set a challenging target. Both fell to Atkinson LBW after they had pushed the score close to 150. The return of Holt saw him take a wicket with his first ball with a fine diving catch by Chris Owen at slip. Atkinson soon wrapped up the innings as the rain started to fall ending up with 6 -24 from 13.4 overs.
At tea the heavens opened and Amersham were left to sit out the rain hoping that it would stop long enough to knock off the required runs. After about an hour the rain eased and Amersham set about the run chase. Amersham lost an early wicket as Rob Viney got one that jumped off a good length and was well taken at mid wicket. Rich Stephenson and Chris Owen looked to push on and finish the game quickly as the rain looked to roll in again. Rich Stephenson punished anything slightly off line and Amersham reached 73 off 10 overs before Chris Owen (20) was out. Ollie Haddock joined Stephenson and continued the chase for quick runs as Amersham looked to beat the weather to secure a win. They added 53 before Stephenson was caught for a quickfire 65. Haddock soon followed for 29 and Amersham were 137 - 4. It was left to Andy Robertson and Paul Weston to finish off the job with Weston cutting the ball for 4 to win the game as the rain started to come down again. |

| | Chenies & Latimer I v Amersham I |
| | Morrant Thames Valley Cricket League − Division 2b |
| | Amersham I 136-8 (33.2 ovs; Duncan Ward 49*, Dave Brown 4−56) |
| | Match abandoned (rain) |
| |
| |
Amersham's match against Chenies and Latimer was washed out on Saturday but not before Amersham found themselves in trouble. Electing to bat first Amersham were soon under pressure as Chenies used the conditions well as Amersham got off to a slow start.
Amersham lost their first wicket with some quick thinking by the keeper who stumped Viney with the score on 16. Chenies took the second wicket quickly as Chris Owen guided the ball to gully that made it 17 - 2. Chenies had their tails up and the third wicket fell for 24 as Matt Ash was trapped in front.
Andy Robertson and Jonny Andrews then started a recovery as they put on 35 for the 4th wicket before Robertson was bowled for 26. At 59 - 5 Chenies were well on top and kept the pressure on the Amersham middle order. Andrews was joined by Ollie Haddock and once again looked to be getting Amersham out of a tight hole when Andrews became Dave Brown's 4th wicket from a tidy opening spell.
Haddock was joined by Duncan Ward but Haddock was soon on his way as Amersham slipped to 79 - 6. Ward and Jonny Lishman looked to steady the innings with Ward playing a patient innings and still dispatching the bad ball to the boundary. Lishman was undone by a straight one and Amersham were 96 - 7. Ward was joined by Brad Holt and in between the showers managed to get the score passed 100 with Ward dominating the partnership and Holt playing the ball carefully.
Holt was eventually out after a partnership of 35 leaving Amersham at 131 - 8. Rajabali joined Ward and only 5 more runs were added before the heavens opened again and the game was called off leaving Ward on 49 not out. |

Amersham were held to a draw by Gerrards Cross. Gerrards Cross won the toss and asked Amersham to bat first. Rob Viney and Andy Robertson got Amersham off to a good start as they put on 102 for the first wicket. Robertson was the first to go for 43 and Viney followed shortly for 62 as Amersham were pinned back to 112 - 2. Chris Owen then anchored the innings and with Weston and Andrews they moved the score onto 172 - 4 after 36 overs. Owen was then joined by Matt Ash and the pair added 52 in 8 overs as Amersham looked to set an imposing target. Both players batted well as Amersham looked to score quickly.
Chris Owen eventually went for 55 and Ash (43 not out) helped push the score on to 265 with quick contributions from Ward, Lishman and Dixon.
Gerrards Cross reply got off to a bad start losing a wicket in the first over. Eddie Waugh and Richard Graham then built a solid partnership as they added 124 for the second wicket before Graham was run out by a sharp piece of fielding from Jonny Andrews. With 17 overs remaining Gerrards Cross needed 139 to win. With overs running out Gerrards Cross looked to force the issue only to find wily veteran Mustapha Rajabali and Nick Moore bowling well to keep Amersham on top. Waugh (72) was eventually caught by Jonny Andrews on the boundary off Rajabali's bowling to make it 136 - 3. To Gerrards Cross credit they kept going for it only to find the safe hands of Ash on the Long On boundary and Owen at slip as Rajabali took 5 - 61. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals as the match petered out into a draw. |

| | Amersham I 112-2 (17.3 ovs; Rob Viney 43, Andy Robertson 30) |
| | Amersham I won by 8 wickets |
| |
| |
Amersham maintained their lead at the top of Div 2B with a comprehensive win against Wokingham 2nd XI.
Amersham won the toss and elected to bowl first. Tom Dixon was soon into his stride as he got the Wokingham opener to play a loose shot and Rob Viney gratefully took the catch at first slip to make it 7 - 1.
Cox and Deen then looked solid against some tight bowling from Ward and Dixon as Amersham kept the pressure on. It took two stunning catches from Niall Densley to change the game. The first one came off the bowling of Dixon. Cox looked to hit over the top of cover and Densley leapt up and took a one handed catch above his head.
Nick Moore had replaced Ward and in the next over Deen smashed a ball to square leg to see Densley cling on to the ball 6 inches off the ground to his right. Wokingham were now 34 - 3 and looked deflated.
Amersham then tightened their grip on the game and took 3 more quick wickets to leave Wokingham struggling at 43 - 6. Tom Dixon ended his 10 over spell with 4 - 28.
Wokingham's lower order had a bit of a fightback as they looked to hit Moore and Matt Ash out of the attack. Moore ended up with 2 more wickets and Matt Ash 1 as Amersham bowled out Wokingham for 110 in 30 overs.
Once again the openers Rob Viney and Andy Robertson took the game to the Wokingham bowlers and put on 80 in 13 overs before Viney was bowled for 43. Robertson and Chris Owen kept up the tempo and almost saw Amersham home woth Robertson falling for 30 with only 3 runs required. Dan Colquhoun came in and promptly smashed his second ball to the cover boundary to secure a win for Amersham. |

| | Amersham I won by 127 runs |
| |
| |
Amersham bounced back from last weeks drawn match to secure a convincing 127 run win against Chalfont St Peter.
Chalfont St Peter won the toss and asked Amersham to bat first on a slightly damp green wicket. Amersham got off to a solid start scoring 12 off the first over and openers Rob Viney and Andy Robertson set the platform for a big score as they plundered 75 off 18 overs for the first wicket. Robertson played a very controlled innings and Rob Viney attacked the bowling with glee before falling for 42.
Robertson (65) and Chris Owen (26) added 72 in a good partnership before both fell with the score at 147. With 18 overs left Dan Colquhuon and Paul Weston started carefully to make sure Amersham didn't lose any further wickets and then attacked as they pushed the score past 200 in the 46th over. With only six overs remaining they looked to up the run rate and make an imposing target for Chalfont St Peter. Colquhuon was bowled by Din for 43 with the score on 212. Paul Weston swung the willow and added 20 runs before Andy Viney was caught. Weston was joined by Duncan Ward and Amersham ended up on 232 - 5 and declared after 50 overs.
Chalfont St Peters reply got off to a good start with F Ahmed and R Punj showing intent on chasing the target by rattling up 13 in 3 overs before Ahmed was undone by one that kept low from Tom Dixon and trapped him in front. Chalfont carried on blazing away and had reached 35 in 8 overs when Punj tried to launch Atkinson over the top only to find the safe hands of Nick Moore at mid off.
Atkinson then struck again in his next over to reduce Chalfont to 41-3 with Chris Owen taking a good catch at slip. Khan and Din then looked to rebuild the innings as the Chalfont Innings started to stall. Good bowling by Atkinson and Mustapha Rajabali made life difficult for the Chalfont batsmen. Rajabali was rewarded for his patience when Khan edged one to the safe hands of Chris Owen at slip and left Chalfont 63 - 4. after 21 overs. The match was slipping away from Chalfont as Amersham maintained the pressure. Chalfont St Peter started to play with a more cautious approach in an attempt to frustrate Amersham and deny them a win.
Rajabali struck again in the 30th over when he had Din caught by Rob Viney at mid off. Chalfont were now 89 - 5 with the prospect of trying to bat out the last 20 overs to save the game. After a fine spell from Atkinson a change of bowling and taking the new ball brought the next wicket with Duncan Ward trapping Sharma in front to make it 92 - 6. in the 32nd over. Amersham now needed 4 wickets in 18 overs to secure a victory Another change of bowling saw Nick Moore replace Ward and he struck in his 2nd over to remove S Ahmed. Chalfont were now 96 - 7 and still had to survive 12 overs.
Moore and Rajabali bowled well and it was a matter of time before Amersham mopped up the tail. Mander was unlucky as he was run out from a direct hit by Rob Viney and Banner was caught by Dan Colquhuon to make it 100 - 9. Nick Moore took the final wicket in the 42nd over as M Ahmed watched the ball spin back and trickle into the stumps with just enough speed to dislodge the bail. |

Amersham held on for a draw against Stoke Green.
Amersham won the toss and elected to field first. On a difficult wicket Amersham were soon rewarded with Tom Dixon taking the first wicket but Patel and Patdiwala batted very well together to keep the scoreboard ticking along at a reasonable rate.
A change of bowling brought success with Nick Moore removing Patel. Patdiwala was the mainstay of the Stoke Green innings scoring a very impressive 91. He was well supported by Rupani and Kumar as Amersham struggled to keep their normal tight lines. Stoke Green used up all their allotted overs to post 210 - 5.
Amersham got off to a patient start with Rob Viney and Andy Robertson having a good look at the bowling. Patdiwala and Kumar were turning the ball square on a track that took a huge amount of spin to suit the home side.
Robertson was the first to go when he was adjudged caught behind. Viney and Chris Owen made steady progress before Viney was caught at slip. Amersham were making slow but steady progress against a good spin attack but lost wickets at crucial times but the innings was held together by Dan Colquhuon who made a very good 74. At 106 - 7 off 33 overs Amersham were looking at the prospect of their first defeat of the season but Dan Colquhuon and David Atkinson put up a resilient performance with Colquhuon making sure that Amersham picked vital batting points to remain clear at the top of the league. |

| | Amersham I won by 9 wickets |
| |
| |
Amersham maintained their lead in Division 2B with a 9 wicket win over Tring Park.
Amersham won the toss and elected to bowl first on a wet wicket. Both Duncan Ward and Tom Dixon made life difficult for the batsmen by bowling good line and length. Tring Park's first wicket fell in the third over as R Duncan was caught by Andy Viney off the bowling of Duncan Ward. Tom Dixon was unlucky not to claim any wickets in his opening spell that cost 10 runs in 8 over. Duncan Ward took two more quick wickets to Leave Tring Park 20 -3 after 13 over.
J Bush and G Darby started a careful recovery to take the score to 46 after 20 overs. A change of bowling brought immediate results as David Atkinson took a good catch at short extra cover off Nick Moore's first ball.
Moore followed this up with another wicket in his third over to leave Tring struggling at 50 - 5 after 25 overs. Moore was well supported by Chris Owen and David Atkinson who kept the pressure by conceding 28 runs from 17 overs between them. Moore struck twice more in his 7th over to reduce Tring to 59 - 7 off 33 overs.
Dan Plumeridge marshalled the tail very well and struck a very good 63 and added 49 runs in a last wicket partnership after Mustapha Rajabali had taken two wicket.
Plumeridge finally holed out in the penultimate over off Ward to set Amersham a target of 139 to win.
Amersham's run chase got off to a cracking start with Rob Viney and Andy Robertson looking to dominate the bowling. Rob Viney was especially severe on anything off line and length as the openers rattled up 61 in 10 overs by which time Tring had already used 4 bowlers. There was no let up in Amershams run chase as Viney and Robertson reached 100 opening partnership in 17 overs. Both made batting look easy on a difficult wicket before Viney fell for 61 in the 20th over with the score on 122. It was left to Robertson (68*) and Chris Owen to knock the remaining runs required which they did in quick fashion as Amersham passed their target in 22.3 overs. |

Amersham beat Reading 2nd XI by 9 wickets on saturday to stay top of the league. Reading won the toss and elected to bat first in glorious conditions.
Reading got off to a cautious start with Duncan Ward and David Atkinson bowling tight lines to make it hard to score runs. Duncan Ward was finally rewarded in the 11th over by inducing Dorrington to edge one to slip. Ward broke through again in his next over by bowling Kumar to leave Reading 31 - 2 after 13 overs.
Ali and Kumar slowly built a partnership as they struggled to get the ball away. Mustapha Rajabali had taken over from Ward and kept the pressure on. Atkinson then reduced Reading to 50 - 3 by trapping Huggins in front. Rajabali then claimed the first of his 6 wickets as he had Ali caught at mid on to make it 50 - 4 off 21 overs. Rajabali then got into his stride as wickets started to fall at regular intervals. Nick Moore replaced Atkinson in the attack and kept the pressure on the Reading batsmen while at the other end Rajabali induced an array of false strokes to give the Amersham fielders simple catching practice.
Atkinson took the final wicket as Reading batsmen melted in the sun as they were all out for 108.
Amersham's reply got off to a great start with Rob Viney crashing the first ball over cover for four. Amersham lost their only wicket in the 7th over when Robertson was adjudged LBW with the score on 37. It only took another 10 overs for Viney (65*) and Chris Owen (20*) to score the runs required. Reading tried to intimidate the Amersham batsmen with short deliveries only to see them sail over the boundary. Amersham completed the rout in 17 overs. |

Hillingdon won the toss and elected to bat first and soon found themselves in trouble as David Atkinson took two wickets in the second over of the game to leave Hillingdon 5 - 2. Mohammed and Corbin then set about rebuilding the innings and put on 38 before Nick Moore removed Mohammed in his first over. Nick Moore and David Atkinson bowled well in tandem and Nick Moore ripped through Hillingdon's middle order taking 5 wickets in his first 4 overs to leave Hillingdon struggling at 60 - 7 after 21 overs. A Akram and Z Akram then batted sensibly adding 63 in 23 overs as Amersham changed the bowling around looking for the next wicket. Amersham's run chase got off to a solid start with Chris Owen and Andy Robertson adding 36 before Robertson gloved a good ball to the keeper. Chris Owen (42 not out) anchored the innings superbly and was well supported by Dan Colquhuon (39) as they added 75 in 15 overs with some lusty blows. With 20 required Colquhuon was trapped in front but the result was never in doubt as Amersham had plenty of overs and wickets in hand. Luke Jackson made short work of adding the required runs ending up 19 not out of 9 deliveries to see Amersham home in 26.3 overs. |

In a tense affair Amersham beat Fleet off the last ball of the game. Fleet won the toss and asked Amersham to bat first on a damp wicket. Rob Viney and Andy Robertson got Amersham off to a steady start in difficult conditions against some tight bowling from Chalkley and Talbot. The Amersham openers kept the score board ticking over at about 3 an over for the first 20 overs before Viney flashed at one and was caught at Gully for 25. At 68 - 1 Chris Owen joined Robertson who was well into his stride and the pair put on 68 in 14 overs as the momentum began to go with Amersham. At 136 Owen was bowled for a good 31 and Robertson soon followed for another super 76 to leave Amersham 138 - 3. Dan Colquhuon and Paul Weston then added 59 in 9 overs with some lusty blows and one huge six from Weston that disappeared over the pavilion. Weston, Colquhuon and Andrews all then fell quickly with the score over 200. Andrew Viney and Duncan Ward then had a quick swing at the death with Viney playing some lovely strokes to see Amersham post 229 - 6 and be able to declare with an over remaining.
Fleet started their reply in very positive manner with Black punishing anything slightly off line and length. After 10 over Fleet had raced away to 43 without loss. Tom Dixon took the first wicket in the 15 over with one that cut back to remove Hope's leg stump leaving Fleet 76 - 1. A change of bowling saw Mustapha Rajabali remove the danger man Black with his 3rd ball as Andy Robertson took a sharp stumping. Hobdell and Griffiths added 22 before Rajabali struck again as Hobdell hit one straight at Rob Viney. After 30 overs Fleet were well placed at 136 - 3. Fleet needed 93 off 19 overs to win. Another change of bowling saw Fleet lose their 4th wicket as Chris Owen had Griffiths caught by John Andrews. The fifth wicket fell in the next over as Rajabali struck again, this time Downes was caught by Ward and the momentum was back with Amersham as Fleet were 142 - 5 with 17 overs left. Fleet wickets started to fall at a steady rate as firstly Jackson was run out calling for a quick single. Ward swooped from short extra cover and Robertson whipped off the bails to leave Jackson stranded. Rajabali then struck again to leave Fleet 151 - 7 with 9 overs left. Amersham were now in the driving seat and needed 3 wickets to complete victory.
Atkinson replaced Owen and reduced Fleet to 162 - 9 with 2 quick wickets. Amersham now had 4 overs to take the final wicket. Chalkley edged his first delivery to Owen at slip who was unable to hold on to the chance. Pamment and Chalkley looked nervous as they managed to block out Rajabali and Atkinson. With only 1 over left Duncan Ward brought himself back to see if he could remove the one of the last pair. Amersham crowded the bat in anticipation. Pamment managed to keep put the first 5 balls and it was all down to the last ball. Ward came in for one last effort and a little extra bounce saw Pamment gloved the ball and Dave Atkinson dive forward from silly mid on to scoop the ball just inches of the ground to secure a valuable win for Amersham. |

Amersham continued their good start to the season with a convincing win over local rivals Chenies & Latimer.
Amersham won the toss and elected to field first. Duncan Ward and Tom Dixon bowled good line and length to restrict scoring opportunities and put pressure on the opening batsmen. Ward was rewarded for his good opening spell with 2 wickets to leave Chenies & Latimer struggling at 34 - 2. Mustapha Rajabali and David Atkinson continued the good work as Chenies & Latimer found scoring opportunities few and far between. Duncan Taylor steadied the innings with useful partnerships with Hopkirk and Qureshi before 3 quick wickets saw Chenies reduced to 76 - 6. Wilde and Brown hit some lusty blows as the Chenies tail wagged to give Chenies a target to bowl at.
Amersham got off to a good start with Rob Viney and Andy Robertson putting on 35 before Viney spooned one to mid wicket. Robertson was joined by Chris Owen and both dominated the bowling with crisp drives and good running between the wickets. The pair took Amersham to within sight of the finishing line by putting on 104 for the second wicket before Owen was bowled by a pearler from Norwood. It left Robertson to finish off the job stroking the ball for another four to end up with a classy 79 not out. |

Robertson and Viney roast Wokingham.
Andy Robertson (125) and Rob Viney (113) set a club batting record on saturday against Wokingham 2nd XI by putting on 258 for the first wicket.
Amersham won the toss and elected to bat first. Andy Robertson got the innings off to a flyer scoring 12 off the second over of the day. Both Robertson and Rob Viney were in dominate mood scoring freely and keeping the scoreboard ticking over at a good rate. Their hundred partnership came up in the 21st over. Rob Viney won the individual race to be the first to fifty as both batsmen worked the good balls around the ground for 1's and 2's and were very severe on anything off line as they rattled off 23 4's and 5 6's between them.
The 200 partnership came in the 39th over and was quickly followed by both openers getting to 3 figures. Again Rob Viney just beat Andy Robertson to 100. The next 50 partnership came in six overs as both started to really attack the bowling. Eventually Rob Viney holed out to Long off and Andy Robertson to mid wicket. Chris Owen and Dan Colquhuon then added a quick 30 to set Wokingham 289 to win off 51 overs.
Wokingham's reply got off to a bad start with Duncan Ward taking a wicket in his 3rd over to make it 9 - 1. Both Nick Moore and Ward bowled tight lines to make scoring difficult and Moore was rewarded for his good bowling having Cox lbw. Deen and David batted carefully and got the score to 109 before David became Moore's second victim. Moore took his 3rd wicket two balls later to leave Wokingham 109 - 4. Amerhsam then succeeded in dropping a number of chances and it looked like Amersham had blown their chances of winning. With 12 overs to go Amersham took the new ball and were rewarded with 4 more wickets but ran out of overs to take the last 2 wickets required for victory. Nick Moore finished with 4 - 52 and Duncan Ward 4 - 32. |

Amersham started their league campaign with a comprehensive win over local rivals Chalfont St Peter. Chalfont St Peter won the toss and elected to bat first and soon regretted the decision as they lost their first wicket to the third ball of the innings with Rob Viney taking a good catch at slip off Tom Dixon's bowling.
David Atkinson making his league debut for Amersham was soon amongst the wickets as Chalfont struggled. By the end of the eight over Chalfont were reduced to 6 - 4 as Atkinson took 3 quick wickets without conceding a run. Chalfont made a slight recovery with Sharma and S Ahmed adding 31 for the fifth wicket before Atkinson struck again.
Mustapha Rajabali joined the attack and soon reduced Chalfont to 37 - 6. F Ahmed and M Ahmed decided the best policy was to hit out and added 37 before M Ahmed was run out to make it 74 - 7. Rajabali then had F Ahmed caught on the boundary by Dixon and had Puri LBW to make it 83 - 9. Nick Moore wrapped up the innings with a fine stumping from Andy Robertson to leave Chalfont 92 all out.
Amersham's reply got off to a good start with Rob Viney and Andy Robertson adding 28 in 7 overs before Robertson holed out. Viney and Chris Owen took the score to 43 before Viney was out. Owen and Dan Colquhuon looked to have things under control adding 20 runs before Colquhuon gave a simple chance to mid wicket that was gratefully received. Luke Jackson came in and went for a big shot early on and was caught at point to leave the score at 65 - 4. Chris Owen and Paul Weston made sure there were no further wobbles and saw Amersham home with plenty of overs to go. |

After beating Chesham last week, Amersham beat Wooburn Narkovians by 77 runs. Amersham won the toss and elected to bat first on a very wet wicket and soon came to grief losing 3 wickets for 25 runs. Rob Viney and Chris Owen steadied the innings with a 50 partnership before Viney was out. Chris Owen batted brilliantly in difficult conditions to register 101 not out as Amersham declared at 176 - 9. This gave the Amersham bowlers something to defend.
Wooburn's reply got off to a poor start losing their opener in the first over. Amersham made the most of the conditions in restricting runs and making life difficult for the batsmen. After good opening spells from Ward and Atkinson, Nick Moore and Jamie Toates ripped out the middle order to leave Wooburn struggling at 69 - 5.Wooburn were unable to recover and were finally dismissed for 99. It was a good work out for all the bowlers and Amersham are looking forward to hosting Chalfont St Peter in their opening league game on saturday. |
