    Amersham v Warborough & Shillingford

Amersham 166 (Rob Viney 40, Richard Tilley 4−22, Alan Tilley 3−7)

Warborough & Shillingford 164-9 (James Hobbs 53, Richard Tilley 50*, Andy Robertson 4−48)
    Match drawn

On Sunday, Amersham and Warborough & Shillingford fought out an exciting draw at Shardeloes.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Amersham struggled early on against tight seam and swing bowling from Richard Tilley (4-22) and were soon reduced to 49 for five. Rob Viney (40) in partnership with first Elliot Kettingham (22) and then Jamie Toates (26) lifted the score to a competitive 166 before veteran Alan Tilley (3-7) wrapped up the tail.

James Hobbs (53) gave Warborough a solid start, but as the required rate began to rise, so wickets began to fall, mostly to the off-spin of Andy Robertson (4-48). Richard Tilley (50*) farmed the strike well whilst batting with the lower order, and all four results were still possible with one delivery remaining. Warborough required three for victory, but Kettingham brought off a good stop at short extra-cover to deny the batsmen any runs.

    Aylesbury v Amersham

Amersham 304-2 (45 ovs; Rob Viney 121, Andrew Viney 118*, Chris Owen 34)

Aylesbury 147 (31.5 ovs; David McKay 3−17)
    Amersham won by 157 runs

Amersham saw themselves comfortably into the quarter finals of the Bucks cup with a 157 run win over Aylesbury.

Amersham won the toss and elected to bat first on a blistering hot day. Brothers Andy and Rob Viney made the most of the conditions making the Aylesbury fielders chase a lot of leather as they piled on the runs. Rob Viney dominated the early proceedings with the younger brother Andy playing a good supporting role. Rob quickly passed 50 and then carried on his savage attack on the bowling to pass 100 before Andy had reached 50. Rob Viney was eventually run out in the 28th over for 121 and the total on 187. Andy Viney and Chris Owen then carried on the onslaught adding 82 in 12 overs before Chris Owen was LBW for 34. John Andrews joined Andy Viney at the crease to push the score passed 300 and Andy Viney made his first senior 100 for the club ending up 118 not out as Amersham ended up 304 - 2 off their 45 overs.

Aylesbury were always going to struggle to pass such an imposing total and Jamie Toates got Amersham off to a good start taking 2 early wickets. The pick of the Amersham bowlers was David Mckay who took 3 for 17 of 6 overs as Aylesbury were bowled out for 147 from 31.5 overs.

    Amersham v Frogs

Frogs 174 (63 ovs; J Mason 55, David Sidebottom 3−28)

Amersham 176-8 (41 ovs; Duncan Ward 62*, S Walsh 3−40, M Chetwode 3−51)
    Amersham won by 2 wickets

With all Amersham's league games being called off due to adverse weather it was only the Sunday XI that managed to play at the weekend.

Frogs won the toss and elected to bat first on a slightly damp wicket. Duncan Ward and Jamie Toates made the batsmen work hard for their runs with good opening spell. Toates was rewarded for his good bowling by getting one through the defence of Phillips. Kiwi Corker, Jeremy Good came on first change and got into his stride straight away and took the second wicket. John Lishman and David Sidebottom then took over the bowling from Good and Ward as the Frogs went into lunch at 88 - 2.

Lishman then took two wickets in the first over after lunch and SIdebottom bamboozled the batsmen with good flight and guile. Sidebottom was rewarded for his patience with 3 wickets as the Frogs struggled, Chris Owen chipped in with 2 wickets as Frogs were 174 all out from 63 overs.

Amersham's reply got off to a good start with Rob Viney and Andy Robertson taking the score to 41 before Viney hit a ball like a train at mid wicket who didn't have time to get out of the way and took a good catch.

Robertson and Chris Owen took the score onto 85 before Amersham suffered a mini collapse to leave the game finally balanced at 94 - 5 when Harry Heslop joined Duncan Ward. With 20 overs to go Amersham required 80 runs to win. Ward and Heslop steadily nudged Amersham nearer to victory with a stand of 57. Both batted sensibly and the odd boundary helped keep Amersham in the hunt for victory. Heslop finally departed with 6 overs left and 24 runs required. John Lishman supported Ward (62*) as Amersham won with an over to spare.
