| | Amersham 1st XI, like the rest of Division 1 of the Thames Valley League, fell foul of the weather on Saturday in their home fixture against Tring Park 2nds. Before the rains came shortly after tea Amersham, having lost the toss and been asked to bat, amassed 236 for 7 in difficult batting conditions. An opening partnership of 100 between Andy Viney (30) and Chris Fleming (55) formed the basis of this total, but all of the middle order contributed as Chris Owen (32), Rob Viney (30) Matt Crawley (37) and Dan Colqhoun (26) made the most of some sometimes wayward bowling from Tring. This appeared to be a formidable total, the more so when Matt Adams was LBW to David Atkinson in the sixth over of the Tring innings, with the score on only 12. However this was the last over of the game as persistent rain set in, forcing the players from the field. Amersham remain in fourth place and visit Thatcham this weekend. |
