Amersham entertained Burnham on a perfect summer's afternoon at Shardeloes on Sunday. Continuing a dreadful run of toss results for all Amersham captains Chris Owen lost the toss and Burnham promptly chose to bat. The game flew past as nearly 400 runs were scored in only just over 50 overs to keep the crowd thoroughyl entertained. Andy Viney and Evan Hamilton-Pike, in conjunction with the Burnham batsmen, set the scene as runs came easily, but were accompanied by the regular fall of wickets. Hamilton-Pike maintained a good line and length for much of his spell and was rewarded with three wickets. Viney (1-37), David Atkinson (1-32), Stuart Rogers (1-36) and Matt Crawley (1-17) all chipped in whilst Jack Kilgannon's (2-20) left arm spin accounted for the dangerous Colin Davis who had hit four large sixes in his 31. Rao Mohindru (32) and Davis led Burnham to a reasonable total of 182 after it looked as if they would be dismissed for considerably fewer. However, Kilgannon (53) and Elliott Ketteringham (36) soon made significant inroads into the chase. Kilgannon's innings was brief in length, but the quality of his shots was undeniable. one six and nine fours made up 42 of the 53 he scored and the Burnham bowlers were unable to stem the rapid flow of runs from his scything blade. Ketteringham also batted very well interspresing some fine shots with watchful defence. Kilgannon's dismissal brought Matt Crawley to the crease and he continued the show. His undefeated 59 included four sixes and six fours as Amersham overhauled their target in less than 20 overs.
