| | Amersham turned in a hugely disappointing performance against Marlow at Shardeloes. Having lost the toss the Amersham batsmen never managed to assert themselves as the Marlow bowlers took advantage of the conditions. A number of wickets fell as the ball deviated laterally and vertically, and the excellence of Marlow's spinner, JJ Haq, meant that there was no escape once the seamers gave way to alternative bowlers. Matt Crawley attempted to dominate, and his 25 was Amersham's top score. Jack Kilgannon hung on bravely, but 93 was unlikely to be enough. Pete Dickenson set out to win the game as quickly as possible, but was soon bowled by James Harmer. However, that was Amersham's only success until Matt Crawley induced an edge from Graeme Paskins with only 6 needed for victory. A disappointing game ended in the bar, where the Amersham team discussed the day's events and resolved to do better next time! |
