Amersham concluded the season with a disappointing loss to a determined Marlow side on Saturday. After choosing to bat first, Amersham were never able to dominate as the accurate Marlow bowlers extracted appreciable movement from the wicket. Tall off-spinner Haq in particular exerted a strangle hold on the batsmen as Amersham subsided to a disappointing total. In reply, Amersham were given hope by Brad Holt, who slipped an inswinging delivery through the gate of Bucks wicket-keeper Graham Paskins and a promising spell from debutant seamer James Harmer. The evergreen Niall Densely exploited the early pressure with a well executed run out. However, a determined fifty from Farland guided Marlow to their target. Amersham ended the season in a creditable fourth position, consolidating their place in the league after promotion the previous season. With six wins from eight games in July and August, including victories over the league winners and runners-up, Amersham have good reason to look forward to next season. |
