Sunday 20th August 2006
    Amersham v Cryptics
Match cancelled - clashed with rearranged Bucks Cup match

Amersham's Sunday XI travelled to Beaconsfield to play a hastily relocated Bucks Cup quarter final on Sunday, after heavy rain rendered Shardeloes unplayably wet. Amersham were asked to bat first and found runs hard to come by. Gritty innings from Chris Owen and Luke Jackson prevented early calamity, but it was Dan Colquhoun who prevented Amersham being completely frozen out of the game. His 71 was a judicious mixture of defence, good running and his trademark brutal hitting. However, 142 was not a total that would be easy to defend, and so it proved. Brad Holt and Tom Dixon removed the openers, but some vigorous blows from James Cousins put Beaconsfield well ahead of the required rate. The introduction of spinners Nick Moore (3-15 off 9 overs) and David Atkinson (1-9 off 9 overs) slowed the rate effectively, and removed much of the middle order, but the vast experience of Steve Lynch and some lusty blows from Shakeel Ahmed meant that Beaconsfield won with 3 overs to spare.
