Amersham II continued their terrific form by claiming another 25 point jackpot in a convincing win over NPL Teddington II at Shardeloes, keeping them second in the table. Amersham batted first and raced to 68-1 after just 12 overs thanks to the strokeplay of Jonny Andrews (23), debutante Elliott Ketteringham (24) and Matt Ash (34). But when Snow (4-58) found his line, he triggered a top-order collapse, and after 22 overs Amersham were struggling at 110-5. This brought together Amersham veterans Duncan Ward and Tim Aylott who dug in and added 53 for the 6th wicket. Ward (41) struck 8 fours in his knock, and once he departed Aylott (47) shepherded the tail before he was last man out, one ball before the intended declaration. Amersham produced a fine effort in the field - all nine chances were taken, including three by Ash, and two each for Bulman and 'keeper Chris Richards. Stand-in captain Ian Rogers had a wealth of bowling experience at his disposal - seamers Danny Bulman (3-35) and Ward (1-15) made the early inroads, then the spinners Nick Moore (2-51) and Ash (4-24) completed the job. |
