| | Amersham concluded their cricket week on Sunday, batting first against the President's XI. Richard Stephenson and Luke Jackson provided the bulk of the home side's runs. Their partnership of 139 was cut short when Stephenson was bowled by Crook 3 short of a well deserved hundred. Jackson thrashed his way to 74 before his dismissal prompted a declaration at 217-7. The President's XI attacked this total with gusto, but none of their batsmen were able to capitalise on good starts. Wickets fell regularly and were shared around. The reliable Nick Moore claimed two, as did the passionate Jackson. When Ian Rogers holed out off Alex Martin Amersham were homing in on victory, and a late onslaught from Moynan could not prevent Martin (3-12) and Jackson from finishing off the innings with the score on 188. the game was preceded by a well attended reception for Amersham players and members past and present which, together with the match, made a fitting conclusion to an excellent week's cricket. |
