| | Amersham battled hard away at Thatcham town on Saturday but were eventually undone by a brilliant century from Thatcham's opener, Julian Wood. After their recent form with the bat, Amersham elected to bat upon winning the toss. On a pacey wicket Amersham were indebted to their top three for resisting the new ball skillfully to build up a platform for the middle order. Although Amersham subsequently lost wickets at regular intervals, each batsman contributed on the way to a competitive total. In response for Thatcham, Wood started aggressively, regularly finding the boundary with powerful stroke play, although the occasional loose stroke provided encouragement to Amersham. By the time Wood was caught in the deep off Luke Jackson, Thatcham had closed sufficiently on the winning target for Amersham to be unable to panic the remaining batsmen. |
