A timely victory for Amersham saw them collect maximum points at Shardeloes on Saturday and in so doing move up to 3rd place in the league. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Amersham posted a challenging total with the major contributions coming from Kruger and Ash who put on 110 for the 2nd wicket, and Sam Mayne who made an assured 47 on his return to the club. In reply the visitors never really showed any interest in chasing the runs, and it was really a question of whether Amersham would drop sufficient catches to enable them to force the draw. In true form, Amersham tried very hard not to win the game, and it was left to Ash ( 5-79 ) and Dixon to finally break the resistance and enable the home side to return to winning ways.
