Amersham earned their first win of the season by producing a dominant performance against Hampton Hill on Saturday. After electing to bat first on a wicket offering pace and bounce Amersham were indebited to Robert and Andrew Viney for skillfully seeing off the Hampton Hill new-ball attack. The dismissal of R. Viney offered the hosts no respite, as Chris Flemming moved smoothly through the gears on his way to classy 94. Flemming's knock gave Luke Jackson and Dan Colquhoun a licence to go after the bowling on their way to a 70 partnership occupying only 7 overs as Amersham compiled a daunting total of 272-5. Expecting the wicket to assist turn, Amersham openned up with their spinners and enjoyed immediate success as Majeed offered Mustapha Rajabali a return catch. Rajabali then worked his way through the Hampton Hill order with his flight and turn in a superb spell. Danny Bulman's late introduction left the tail no hiding place and he grabbed two late wickets with his left-arm pace. |
