| | A miserable day, a pudding of a pitch and a soggy draw would best sum up the afternoon's endeavours. Play eventually got underway at 3.15pm and the home team were invited to make first use of a challenging pitch which never allowed batting to be easy. The Amersham bowlers soon made inroads and were well backed up by some excellent ground fielding and catching, and when C Holloway and J Harmer wrapped up the tail to dismiss the home side for 120 a second victory of the season looked on the cards at tea. Events were not to transpire thus however, and only Tim Aylott of the Amersham upper order batsmen managed to give the scorer much to record, and the game ultimately petered out into a tame draw. It is to be hoped that that the sun will eventually shine to encourage the Amersham batsmen to start showing the undoubted ability that the team has! |
