| | Amersham got their 2006 campaign off to a winning start in a keenly contested match at Chesham. Invited to bat first, Chesham struggled to make headway against excellent opening spells from J Harmer and M Garvey who both picked up deserved wickets. The pressure was maintained by M Mackay and Hanook Gill making his Amersham debut who finished with figures of 3-26, and Chris Richards who bamboozled the Chesham batsmen with his off-spin to finish with 3-31 despite the best efforts of his skipper who put down one of the easiest chances imaginable. In reply both Amersham openers went cheaply and at 51-4 the game was in the balance but S Collier batted sensibly for 21 and it was left to Gill and M Mackay to see Amersham to within 1 run of victory before Mackay was bowled leaving Garvey to score the winning run and see Amersham home. |
